Richmond Ferry Terminal
The Richmond Ferry Terminal opened for service on January 10, 2019. It is located at 1453 Harbour Way South in Richmond.
At a total project cost of $20 million, WETA built a new ferry terminal at Ford Point to provide 35-minute ferry service between Richmond and San Francisco. The project included a new passenger shelter, passenger float, gangway and ramping system in addition to site improvements including reconfigured parking lots, bike and pedestrian access, secure bike storage and space for a public art project commissioned by the City of Richmond. To replace a kayak launch that had to demolished during construct, WETA built an ADA kayak launch in the nearby Marina Bay Yacht Harbor.
Funding for the project was provided through State Proposition 1B via the California Office of Emergency Services and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration. The project team included Manson Construction Co. and COWI North America, Inc., Marcy Wong Donn Logan Architects and GHD Inc., and Ghirardelli Associates, Inc.
