Project Update

August 9, 2019: This week, the granite subcontractor continued the placement of mortar and granite blocks for the mockup area. The contractor began fitting the embeds for the bioretention planter walls around Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13 and continued drilling holes for dowels in the underside of Deck Pour #21 for the bolster beam, while also installing the dowels and epoxy. The contractor also placed concrete in the remaining Deck Pour #23 piles and the Deck Pour #14 planter walls. The rebar subcontractor continued installing rebar for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13 deck and steps. Following the completion of the rebar for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13 the rebar subcontractor began installing rebar for Deck Pour #20. The pile driving crew drove the two remaining fender piles at Gate E, the electrical subcontractor continued installing the promenade canopy lights, and the contractor continued installing formwork and pony walls for Deck Pour #20, while beginning the falsework for Deck Pour #23.

Over the next several weeks, the contractor and their subcontractors are scheduled to place concrete and rebar for Deck Pour #12 and #13, continue installing rebar for Deck Pour #20, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, continue the install of granite for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive barrier piles along Pier 14, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

July 26, 2019: This week, the granite subcontractor began the placement of mortar and granite blocks. The concrete subcontractor started the accent band at the planter wall in the mock-up area, and the metal works subcontractor finished raising the seismic embed elevation in the mock-up area. The contractor continued to drill holes in the existing concrete slab for the dowels within Deck Pour #21, to install falsework and formwork at Pour #20, and to install falsework for the bolster beams. The contractor installed the pile template and vibrated the last three guide piles for Gate E.

Over the next several weeks, the granite contractor will continue the installation of granite, the rebar subcontractor is scheduled to complete the rebar within Deck Pour #12 and #13, the metal works subcontractor is scheduled to continue work on the seismic embed, and the contractor is scheduled to install falsework and formwork for Deck Pour #20, and install formwork and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21. The contractor will continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float off-site, drive fender and barrier piles, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

 

Project Update

July 19, 2019: This week, the granite subcontractor began the placement of mortar and granite pavers at the bottom edge of the mockup area and began the install of the reinforced setting bed on the small steps on the north side of the mockup area. The metal works subcontractor started raising the seismic embed elevation along the seawall. The rebar subcontractor finished the installation of rebar for the Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13 lower beams. The contractor successfully completed the concrete pour for the lower beams, as well as the pile pour for Deck Pour #22. The contractor continued drilling holes in the existing concrete slab for the dowels within Deck Pour #21. This week on the waterside, the pile-driving crew drove three new guide piles. The crew track cut and coated the tops of the guide piles and began moving the pile template for the next group of guide piles.
 
Over the next several weeks, the granite contractor will continue the install of granite, the rebar subcontractor is scheduled to complete the rebar within Deck Pour #12 and #13, the metal works subcontractor is scheduled to continue work on the seismic embed, and the contractor is scheduled to install falsework and formwork for Deck Pour #20, place dowels, install formwork, and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21. The contractor will continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float off-site, drive fender, barrier, and guide piles, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

July 12, 2019: This week the contractor continued placing the grout setting bed for the plaza steps and began applying the second waterproofing membrane. The contractor placed grout for the buildup of the steps and continued installing the wire mesh and anchors on the North side of the plaza. The rebar subcontractor worked to install the rebar for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13 while the contractor continued drilling holes in the existing concrete slab for the dowels within Deck Pour #21.

On the water side, the pile driving crew pulled and drove pin piles for the template that will be used to drive the first row of guide piles for the Gate E Float. The pile driving crew also installed steel plates and rebar cages into the Deck Pour #22 and Deck Pour #23 piles.

Over the next several weeks, the rebar subcontractor will continue placing rebar for Deck Pour #12 and #13, the contractor is scheduled to place grout on the plaza steps, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin installing granite and continue the install of grout for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive finder and guide piles, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

July 5, 2019: This week the contractor continued installing the wire mesh in the middle step in the Northwest corner of the plaza. The granite subcontractor began placing the grout setting bed for the steps in the mockup area and the rebar subcontractor began installing rebar for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13. The crew also continued drilling holes in the existing concrete slab for the dowels within Deck Pour #21 and began placing falsework beams and tie rods for the Deck Pour #20 Formwork. The pile driving crew drove two production piles for the extension of the existing Gate E.
 
Over the next several weeks, the rebar subcontractor will finish placing rebar for Deck Pour #12 and #13, and the contractor is will place grout on the plaza steps, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin the install of granite and continue the install of grout for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive finder and guide piles, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

June 28, 2019: This week the contractor continued the placement of grout for the buildup of the steps in the Northwest corner of the plaza and the installation of side forms and seismic joint embeds for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13. The crew also continued drilling holes in the existing concrete slab for the dowels within Deck Pour #21. The waterproofing subcontractor was onsite as well to begin placing a layer of grout on top of the waterproofing that was installed last week within the granite mock up area. The pile driving crew drove four production piles for the extension of the existing Gate E.
 
Over the next several weeks, the rebar subcontractor is scheduled to place rebar for Deck Pour #12 and #13 and the contractor is scheduled to place grout on the plaza steps, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin the install of granite and continue the install of grout for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive deck piles, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

June 21, 2019: This week the contractor continued the placement of grout for the buildup of the steps on the West side of the plaza and continued the installation of side forms for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13. The crew began drilling holes in the existing concrete slab for the dowels within Deck Pour #21. The waterproofing subcontractor was also onsite and began placing waterproofing within the granite mock up area. On the water side, the pile driving crew drove five production piles for the promenade ramp on the North side of Gate E.

Over the next several weeks, the rebar subcontractor is scheduled to place rebar for Deck Pour #12 and #13, place grout on the plaza steps, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin the install of granite and waterproofing for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive the remaining deck piles and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

Project Update

June 14, 2019: This week the contractor installed anchors and placed the grout for the buildup of the steps in the mockup area. The contractor also placed anchors continuing north along the west side of the Plaza, these anchors will support the wire mesh within the grout build up. The crew continued installing plywood and side forms for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13 and demolition for the remainder of the topping slab of Deck Pour #21. The metal subcontractor installed the stair handrails on the West side of the Plaza and began installing the bird wire on top of the Gate F and Gate G Portals. The first granite shipment was delivered to site and will be installed in the Plaza in the next week.

This week work began for the driving of production piles for the promenade ramp. The pile driving crew drove four pin piles that will support the pile driving template. Once the template was welded in place, the crew demolished and cleaned out the locations where the piles will be driven. On Friday, the crew vibrated three production piles for the Deck Pour #22.

Over the next several weeks, the rebar subcontractor is scheduled to place rebar for Deck Pour #12 and #13, place grout on the remaining plaza steps, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin the install of granite for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive deck piles and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

June 7, 2019: This week, the contractor began removing the soffit forms and aluma beams from Deck Pour #19. The crew also track cut and patched the holes in the plaza deck where the sacrificial beams were located within Deck Pour #19. The contractor started bushing the concrete on the plaza steps in preparation for grout placement and started anchor installation within the mockup area that will support the wire mesh within the grout build up. The crew also continued the installation of falsework and falsework beams for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13.
 
At Gate E, the pile driving crew pulled the existing Gate E piles and placed them on a material barge by which they will be transported for refurbishment.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue to place formwork for Deck Pour #13, place grout on the plaza steps, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, install granite for the mockup area, continue the refurbishment of the Gate E Float, drive deck piles and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

Project Update

May 31, 2019: This week the contractor began prepping sacrificial beams and removing the soffit forms and aluma beams from Deck Pour #19. The granite contractor was onsite to begin installing the pins in the mockup area. In preparation for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13, the crew continued installing the falsework, falsework beams, and cleaning concrete off the coil rods and plywood.

Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue placing formwork for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13, continue removing soffit forms and sacrificial beams from Deck Pour #19, place dowels and pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin installing granite for the mockup area, continue refurbishment of the Gate E Float, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.
