Project Update

May 24, 2019: This week the contractor began lowering and stripping soffit forms and removing the cold joint forms on the north and east sides of Deck Pour #19 . The crew also began roughening the surfaces of the concrete revealed from the removal of the cold joint forms in preparation for future concrete pours. The granite contractor was onsite laying out chalk lines for the placement of dowels for granite install. The granite crew also continued drilling holes for the dowels that will be installed in the steps on the North side of the plaza. Work was done to install the side forms for the remainder of the walls within Deck Pour #14 and to install the falsework for Deck Pour #12 and Deck Pour #13. The crew also continued demolition of concrete and granite on the East side of the existing Gate E.

Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue to place formwork for Deck Pour #13, continue the demo of concrete that is in Deck Pour #13, pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin the install of granite for the mockup area, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

May 17, 2019: This week the contractor continued the installation of the cold joint forms on the East side of Deck Pour #19 and began the installation T-heads on the tops of the rebar cages for Deck Pour #19. The crew also continued the demo of the second half of existing Gate E concrete that will be in the new Deck Pour #13 area. The electrical and plumbing subcontractors were onsite to continue the installation of conduit and a water line in Deck Pour #19. The granite contractor was onsite laying out chalk lines for the placement of dowels for granite install. The granite crew also continued drilling holes for the dowels that will be installed in the steps on the East side of the plaza. The contractor also successfully poured the Deck Pour #19 slab and the light post pedestals on the South side of the plaza.

Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue to place formwork for Deck Pour #13, continue the demo of concrete that is in Deck Pour #13, pour concrete for Deck Pour #21, begin the install of granite for the mockup area, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

May 10, 2019: This week the contractor continued the installation of formwork and began the installation of cold joint forms for Deck Pour #19. The crew also began installing falsework on the underside of the second half of the Pour #13 demo. The crew began the demolition of the second half of existing Gate E concrete that will be in the new Deck Pour #13 area. Rebar subcontractor was onsite to continue the installation of rebar for Deck Pour #19. The granite contractor was onsite laying out chalk lines for the placement of dowels for granite install. The granite crew also began drilling holes for the dowels that will be installed in the granite mockup walls.

Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue to place formwork for Deck Pour #13, continue the demolition of concrete that is in Deck Pour #13, pour concrete for Deck Pour #19, begin the install of granite for the mockup area, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

May 3, 2019: In the plaza, the contractor continued and completed the installation of grout for the elevation build-up for the steps. The crew continued the installation of formwork and side forms for Deck Pour #19 and the removal of falsework beams from Deck Pour #17. The crew also continued to demolish the existing Gate E concrete deck and started preparation for the demolition of the second half of the concrete section by drilling holes in the top side of the existing Gate E structure. The contractor continued to install side forms for the Deck Pour #14 walls. Rebar subcontractor was onsite to begin the installation of rebar for Deck Pour #19.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue demo of the existing Gate E concrete deck, place formwork for Deck Pour #13, pour concrete for Deck Pour #19, and complete punch list items related to Section 1. Offsite activities at Bay Ship & Yacht and Cold Spring will continue.

Project Update

April 26, 2019: This week the contractor continued work in the Plaza. The contractor installed formwork and Sika grout for the step build-up around the perimeter of the Plaza. The crew continued installing the falsework beams under Deck Pour #13 and Deck Pour #19, as well as the side forms for the planter walls of Deck Pour #14. Demo continued at the existing Gate E structure. Offsite, Bay Ship & Yacht is refurbishing the Gate E Float and Cold Springs is fabricating the granite for the Plaza.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue grouting the steps along the perimeter of the Plaza, begin to place formwork for Deck Pour #13 and Deck Pour #19, install rebar for Deck Pour #19, pour concrete for Deck Pour #19, and complete punch list items related to Section 1. Offsite activities at Bay Ship & Yacht and Cold Springs will continue.

April 19, 2019: This week the contractor started to install the grout for the step build up in the Deck Pour #8 granite mock up area and began removing the form work from the grout installation. The crew removed the soffit forms from Deck Pour #17, while also installing the falsework beams under Deck Pour #13. The contractor continued to install side forms for the walls in Deck Pour #14 and demo concrete on the top side of the existing Gate E structure.
 
The glazing subcontractor continued the installation of caulk and bird wire on the top of the promenade canopy. The metal subcontractor was onsite to install the additional bars for the handrails on the bridge landing.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to begin to place formwork for Deck Pour #13 and Deck Pour #19, pour concrete for Deck Pour #19, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

April 12, 2019: This week the contractor worked to install side forms for the plaza step build up and for the walls in deck pour #8 and deck pour #14. The contractor successfully poured concrete for deck pour #17, the end of deck pour #14, and the walls on the north side of deck pour #14. To prepare for deck pour #17 the crew finalized the installation of aluma beams, plywood, and pony walls; the rebar subcontractor continued the installation of rebar; and the electrical subcontractor installed the conduit for the light post.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to begin to place formwork for deck pour #13 and deck pour #19, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

March 29, 2019: This week the contractor continued to demo excess concrete from the middle step on the west side of the plaza and continued stripping the falsework beams from Deck Pour #15 and Deck Pour #16. The crew then began the installation of aluma beams, plywood, and pony walls for Deck Pour #17. The crew also poured concrete for the plaza stairs and stripped the side forms.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to continue to place falsework and formwork for Deck Pour #17, pour concrete for Deck Pour #17, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

Project Update

March 22, 2019: This week, the contractor continued to work in the Plaza and Gate E. Work included stripping of the soffit forms from Deck Pour #15 and Deck Pour #16, demo of excess concrete from the middle step on the West side of the Plaza, installing side forms and rebar for the stairs in the plaza, as well as drilling and bonding the rebar. The crew began adjusting the falsework beams for Deck Pour #17 in preparation for the installation of aluma beams and plywood and removing the pile collars from the existing Gate E guide piles. Additionally, demo of the existing Gate E continued.
 
This week in Section 1 the electronic subcontractors were onsite to work on getting the real time signs at Gate F and Gate G online and on adjusting the sliding doors on the Gate F Float.
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to place falsework and formwork for Deck Pour #17 in the plaza, pour concrete for Deck Pour #17, continue the demo of Gate E; including the demolition of the portal and removal of the piles, and complete punch list items related to Section 1.

Project Update

March 15: This week the contractor and their subcontractors continued work in the Plaza. The contractor began stripping the cold joint forms between Deck Pour #16 and Deck Pour #17, stripping the soffit forms from Deck Pour #15, and installing side forms and rebar for the stairs in the plaza. Demolition work continued as the Gate E Float was removed and brought to Alameda for refurbishment. 
 
Over the next several weeks, the contractor is scheduled to place falsework and formwork for Deck Pour #17 in the plaza, pour concrete for Deck Pour #17, continue demo of Gate E (including demolition of the portal and removal of the piles), and complete punch list items related to Section 1.
